I'm in the Philippines now and so far it's lovely. Moalboal seems a great place to do an AOW course and not be bored by the skills dives. Even if you didn't do AOW there is plenty to see.
I've also been diving in Indonesia (Bali) and Thailand. I did my OW in Thailand (Phuket), and as nice as it was for a first trip I don't see myself going back. I could definitely recommend Tulamben in Bali as a great place to get more experience or do your AOW as well. Cheap and cheerful with great diving.
