without a color screen, i see no broad market appeal

at least you can argue aqualung is trying these days with the i330r (even if it has reliability questions)
No doubt this where the Apple Watch option will shine.

So since it has an audible alarm, it can yell out "Stroke!"?

It’s exactly what @Wibble said: NAFF

Bloody well spot on actually. Waste of screen real estate too.
That's really inexcusable. That demonstrates some real amateurs behind the firmware development (which was likely outsourced) and corporate pinheads approving it. This should not be happening at a company like scubapro.

There is a reason that Shearwater is the gold standard: simple, clear interface that doesn't require reading a manual (that means good UI design), partially customizable screen space. No cutesy stuff.

There are ways in which Shearwater could improve its UI, but it certainly isn't broken. It is an interface that is well accepted and works.

I’m going to assume that icon indicates it’s in scuba mode, and that there are variants for freediving and gauge.

You're right, but some good folks above can't think on their own and figure it out since they are too busy thumping their chests while talking about things they don't know anything about with their very limited range of experience.

You can't tell that from the information provided? Please

If it’s a LCD icon, then I doubt there’s space for a freediver— unless the backmounted tanks aren’t shown!

I’m going with your original point that the screenshot is an early mock-up and that there’ll be some adults in the room when the design has been finalised.

As the info is presented thus far, that’s no Periguine challenger, merely a low-end computer.

As we all know, the success of Shearwater is in their supremely usable interfaces. Don’t Make Me Think. That alpha mock-up from ScubaPro is a mess that nobody here can explain!

Will they lock you out if you make them unhappy, because no Shearwater will.
The G2 Tek will lock you out. They way I read it is that if you are diving something like 50/70 and you bust a stop, the GF values will be scaled upward and the stops recalculated until you are at 100/100. Once you exceed a required stop at 100/100, you will get locked out. I suspect the Luna's will also work like this in GF mode, but I have not read their manuals.
