Halo, he's in Toronto. Can anyone of you tell from the pic if that is a taper thread in the neck?

That is a 1/2" tapered thread on the tank/valve. In fact that's the exact same valve that a dive shop destroyed for me trying to get the old burst disc out (thanks a lot A-holes!) I've since found a new valve.
I'll bet that tank would clean up nice and pass hydro no problem, provided there's not too much pitting under those bands.
That could be another sweet 72 someone could be using.

If it was a straight threaded neck, I think I would be using it.
