Has anyone been to Vortex Spring lately. I've read a lot of mixed reviews on various sites. Was thinking about camping/diving but don't want to drive 4 hours away for it to be a bust.

I have been within the month. I travel from Mobile Alabama early morn and get a few tanks in. I like the place. It is great for skill sessions and has some locations to explore. Cavern is fun to check out as well. It does have a tendency to be pretty packed out at times and stirred up due to training groups being there. But if you are looking to dive some springs it is enjoyable. I would say I do prefer Morrison’s spring which is just on the other side of the interstate but Morrison’s is more impacted by weather than vortex so vis is not always as good.

Regarding camping I couldn’t speak to that at vortex
