It can be useful to split the weights between weight belt and integrated BC weights, so you don't have to pick the whole lot up in one go.

Is there any reason to use a weigh belt if you can get a BC that allows you to put weights directly into the BC?

Thanks.

It DOES matter depending where you dive.
If your going tropical then it doesn't have a big effect.
However if your in cold waters wearing a 7mm or a dry suit, you'll want to have a weight belt.

Let take an example.
You're swimming along and get tangled in something at the back of your 1st stage. You can't find what's tangling you so you can't cut it. And you great and awesome buddy is busy following a seal and leaves you all alone.
Well you have to take off your BC now if you ever plan on getting a move on again.
This is where the weight belt comes in.
If all your weight is in your BC, once you take it off, you'll go up and it'll go down.
Likewise if all your weight is in your belt, your BC will go up and you'll go down.

It's best to split the weight up, with more being in the belt (in my opinion)
In my mind it's generally easier to ditch a single belt than to have to find two yank-doggles to ditch your weight pockets.
Also the boat crew will thank you for this. ;D
