It is totally up to you, but again for $10 you are not losing much even if you put them in the trash. You do not need spring straps you can use the rubber ones until you decide if you like them or not.
Jets are a favorite of technical divers. They are powerful but heavy. The fin size varies depending on the footpocket so an XL is a physically larger fin than a L.
