• Deep Solo Dive: -313 metres by Mark Ellyat in December 2003

• 101 Divers: set in South Africa, when 101 divers breathed off a single MR22 1st stage for 40 minutes (1.4m deep).

• 25 Divers/40m: 25 Divers went down to 40 m and breathed off one Mares MR22 1st Stage for the time period of 10 minutes.

These stats are straight off the Mares website so you've got to assume they may be slightly embellished but still, pretty impressive no?

If you're impressed by that kind of thing... I suppose it is. What impresses me, is that you can still get parts for a ScubaPro reg that's 25 years old,and it can still support 4 divers at 100ft breathing off it.

I kind of thought you'd know.

Jscubadive:
I was first certified in 1979, and if I remember correctly, the reg we had for class was a U.S. Diver Aquarius. I have owned over the years a G250 and 200 Oct by Scubapro, and Nemrod Oct. Also owned a Seac Sub 1000 then and a Tekna 2100BX and Oct which I did not dive with, and most recently a Tekna 2100B and R190 for Oct. I have used Genesis, Sherwood and maybe some others but now am in the market for something new.

The ones I have owned were either non balanced or balanced piston first stages and was wondering how the new diaphragm first stages worked.

I will probably be diving on air at deepest 100' in fresh water with alot of sediment in it. I have been told in the past that they may foul some regs up. Any recommendations for brand and model would be great.

Thanks,

James

Another oldie but goodie. I too was certified first in 1979. My first reg was a US Divers Calypso VI. I still have it and it is as good as the day I bought it. I have owned Dacor and now the Atomic B2. I spent alot of time researching and I am glad I did. It has the comfort swivel and a very light titanium second stage. It breathes effortlessly. You forget you have it in your mouth. There are several good ones out there but I am completely satisfied with this reg. Good luck.
