To those saying you don't need a BC system have you tried getting back to the surface from 110ft while wearing a wetsuit and 32lbs of lead

No, but I've also never worn 32lbs of lead outside of my BOW class.



My post (which I believe was the first that said that BC's aren't a necessity) included a caveat about dives which involve a lot of weight (doubles, stage and deco bottles, etc.). For those, yah, you'll probably need a BC. For the dives which I imagine the OP (with fewer than 25 dives) will be doing, it's not a necessity.
 
Thanks, I plan to buy a computer next, and if money left over, a BC!

talk to some tech divers, look for some clubs, I'd like you to try a few different configurations before buying a bcd / bp-w. Buy what-ever can like in the end, a simple rental bcd? whatever seems most likely to help you develop the style of diving you'd like to move towards next.
