I bought new stuff (bc, regs) after 9 years even though my old stuff was still functioning well. It was a little bit of an upgrade. My older bc never really fit exactly like I wanted it to. I still use my old primary reg (a Scubapro R190) as my octopus. I bet my new stuff lasts me at least 10 years and hopefully more
 
I have frinds that have 3000 4000 5000 dives with there regs, tanks and equipent. Take care of them and thay will last you your life time. Most peaple replase becouse that wont new. Not becouse the did not work anymore.
