It's all in the starter pieces, Ray. Those puppies must cost a fortune.

Ikelite sells one of these for $12.99

Whereas LocLine sells one of THESE for $2.64

Of course Ikelite sells THESE for $20...

Whereas LocLine sells just the plastic part for $2.35... so you're on your own for the other 89-cents worth of hardware from Lowes.

So a pair of arms/mounts that a dive photo/video retailer charges nearly $80 for... you can put together directly from the manufacturer and Lowes for less than $18.

What sucks is paying shipping equal to the price on those few little pieces which of course, come in a 50 cent envelope.

It's life support gear for gosh sakes! It's like laughing at the scuba place we pass that always has the sign "Free Discover Scuba". Yes, seconds after the Free Discover Scuba ends and then 2 grand out of your pocket later, voila you start your dive career!

I used 3/4" because I thought 1/2" wouldn't hold position well enough. The 3/4" does pretty well but when I mounted 4 lights I decided on a more rigid mounting for for them, mostly for more consistency in aiming them.

I'm now using 2 aluminum arms with 2 lights each. Each light is about the size and weight of the Archon D11V. The 3/4" locline worked well with 2 lights. Actually I have 2 locline arms that are about 16" each and a tray that needs a new home.

I'll see if I have pics to post.

My current set-up basic configuration.

My old tray and arms - but not together.

The Locline products are very useful. You can change the length by adding bits bought directly from the website.
They are noisy and can come apart at the worst moments if your rig has some weight to it.
Divemasters might think that the Loclines support the weight of the rig (which may be a problem....). Light rigs are ok.

It's a good cheap way of mounting your lights. I've been using them on some of my rigs for years.
Use the bigger ones if you want a longer arm or have a heavier light.
