Straw poll: which agency did you get your basic open water certification from? Sorry to the old timers and people from foreign climes for not including all defunct agencies and non-English language base agencies.

Quick replies to future posts:

Yes, I know it doesn't matter.

Yes, I appreciate that it is the individual instructor that counts.

No, I don't think any one agency is better than any other.

No, I couldn't think of a more interesting thread to start on a Friday afternoon.

According to Wikipedia, "CMAS is the international umbrella organisation for diver training organizations", so I didn't put it in for that reason. I thought it was a bit like the European equivalent of the RSTC? Is that not right?

Hmmmmm....an instructor once told me that a good diver thinks of what to do before something happens. Sounds like you've been able to transfer that to posts :)

my first was NAUI in 93 and the rest up to DM have been PADI

I received a NAUI card Dec 13, 1999

....
You can see a poll of 1997...

Dude, that poll was over 10 years ago! 70% of divers from then probably don't even dive anymore. Also, there are probably 3 times as many dives certified now than there was then!
