Shark Byte,
It was an experiment in mass psychology. I was hoping that I could plant the suggestion in everyone's mind without them knowing, that way making it the de facto truth. I guess you guys are too smart for that. :D

Okay, guess we'll have to fire up the ol' poll...

Hey, wait a minute. That's the first weekend of my Advanced Class, so I can't make it anyway.

Nevermind.....

I thought I had missed something somewhere :11: . I was thinking of making the trek for this wrinkles dive, but I won't know probably until a few days before. I will be back in SoCal for 4th of July weekend (** I need buddies see other thread  **), so I don't know if I'll be up for a turnaround trip the next weekend, until a couple days beforehand. So from my uncommitted POV, doesn't sound like a bad idea, I'd have a better chance of getting an early morning ferry ticket on short notice on Sunday vs Saturday from what I've been reading.

Christian...Fire up the Poll :D

The only concern that I have about firing up the poll is that the point of setting a schedule in advance was to allow those who had to travel longer distances to make plans far in advance.

If we start changing this at the last minute, then people will lose confidence in the schedule and simply won't make plans to attend something that they don't feel they can count on.

If we change something a couple of months in advance or let people know that there will be a choice to make, I think that it's a little different. For instance, we're thinking of having the next one in the Palos Verdes area instead of Leo Carrillo. I've got some ideas for that, but will save that for the other thread that we'll resurrect.

But hey, if you want to fire up the poll, I'd be glad to do so! It's ultimately all about what you all want to do as a group. :crafty:

Because I'll be there then anyway for other purposes. Maybe for anyone who can't make it on Saturday, are scared off by the potential Gold Star crowd (which may or may not happen,) or who will be on the island all weekend (argh, those 2 night minimums!) we could have WD II?

I'm planning on getting there Friday night and coming back Sunday anyway. I'm just waiting for the OK on the time at work. Others may do the same thing, which would open things up for both days even if it's not the "official" day.

That may wind up being more inclusive of both days.

Down the road, I'd like to see if we could get a special rate if we have a large enough group. I just don't know that our group is large enough for that kind of consideration... yet.

I just called the Avalon Sheriff's station, and was told they're getting within hailing distance of 150 divers participating. The dive starts Sat 7/9 at 10:30 a.m. with a pre-dive briefing; then the dive from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; followed at 3 p.m. at Wrigley Plaza in town by the return of found stars and a raffle.

As was my modus operandi with the last Wrinkles at Casino Point, I was mulling the idea of nipping over on the 6:15 a.m. Express, getting in a nice, long dive before the water gets all stirred up, out by the time the Gold Star dive is getting going, and back on the Express to be home just after lunchtime. But it kind of depends on family schedules and so on ...

Completely understandable. I being an out-of-towner appreciate the advanced scheduling you've provided. Like I said if I come this month, it would be a last minute thing. This month is a little different cause of ferry rides, gold star, etc., and my making the long drive just the week before, but then again, I could leave my gear at my parents and just jump on a plane, is what I've been thinking lately.

I'm departing from Downtown Catalina Landing to Avalon on Friday at 7:55 pm and returning at 7:30 pm from Avalon to Downtown Catalina Landing.

I've got a room at the Hermosa Hotel for $50 per night for two nights.

If anyone wants to share the room let me know. It has 2 beds. Total for the 2 nights comes to $112, so $56 for 2 nights is a really great deal. :D

Since, I'll be there all day on Sunday as well, I'm up for diving with anyone who will be there on Saturday or Sunday, since I have no regularly scheduled buddy.

So, kelpmermaid, this means we now have WD II! It's now a whole weekend of Wrinkles activity on Catalina or just one day or the other. Maximum flexibility! :crafty:

I don't think the Gold Star Dive will really be a problem. I'm hoping to get in the water way before they do for some nice clear vis!

Christian, I may take you up on the offer, if you don't mind. I will let you know for sure in a couple days, if it's OK.
I wasn't sure if I was going to go to this Wrinkles dive because I was supposed to go this weekend to Catalina, but plans changed. Also, getting up at 4-4:30am to catch the 6:15am isn't fun :crying:, makes for a very long exhausting day.
