Pharmaceutical grade beeswax. Pure. has no bits of legs, wings, or heads in it. Goes on easy, does not clog, and easy to clean up afterwards.
 
parafin works great cheap doesn't stick to dirt
 
I ended up with the McNett wax from Amazon. I tried to find parafin and beeswax locally and finally gave up after half a dozen stores.
 
Parafin wax is used for baking and canning. So ANY grocery store has it.
