I was thinkin of going to SoCal in March, I should be all moved and settled in by then. I thought I'd throw out a couple suggestions to see if there is any interest in an informal group outing.
A) San Diego, Saturday, March 24, Wreck Alley: Boat TBD
DnDII 2 or 4 dives (AM: Yukon/Pt. Loma Kelp & PM: 2 Kelp), if we got enough people we could try to get the AM kelp changed to another Yukon dive or Ruby E. Cost $80/2 dives, they have a special right now which could end any minute which is 2 for 1 certificates, act fast! (http://www.gottadive.com)
Lois Ann 2 or 4 dives (AM: Yukon/El Rey & PM: 7 Fathoms/NRAD) Cost $80/2 dives, no special that I know of. (http://www.loisann.com)
Dive Bliss 3 dives sites TBD Cost: $85 (http://www.divebliss.com) 6 pack.
B) SoCal Kelp Divers Mo2vation Boat Dive to Catalina, Saturday, March 24: Pacific Star (Redondo Beach) 3 dives. Cost $80-105 depending on # of divers from Scubaboard. See this thread http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=169091 , I was on the inagural Mo2vation dive and have been to a few SoCal events and they are always fun and friendly. Great way to meet some fellow Scubaboarders
D) San Diego, Saturday, March 17: Wreck Alley Same as A above; except Lois Ann is chartered.
E) Catalina, Saturday, March 17: Sundiver (Long Beach) 3 dives. Cost ?? (Not listed and I can't say for sure, it's avg. $80-90 but don't quote me) This is a good boat, one of my favorite I've been on her 3 or 4 times. Discounts are available for groups if we get enough interest. (http://www.sundiver.net) . You can spend the night on the boat Friday night (1st come 1st serve) and save hotel expenses for Friday night.
We can plan some shore dives at La Jolla, Orange County or LA beaches on Sunday morning depending on choice.
If people want to carpool or share hotel expenses (for solos) that would be great. I've had good success with Priceline for hotels in San Diego. ($50/night for a nice 2 1/2 star hotel)
You can get a round-trip ticket to SoCal (San Diego, Orange County, LAX) from Southwest Airlines for $100. I got a truck, so if I drive and you fly, I could shlep you gear for you for a gas money donation And save you the hassle!
It's just a thought, let me know if you have any interest and which option you like. If you have a different suggestion let me know that as well, I like options.
