Why is it that every "graduated Student" and in every training video I see, do the Students and instructors clasp hands together, out in front of them, in a very definitive way?

I tried this last weekend, just to see if there was an obvious reason, there wasnt, it sucked. My light was pointing in the wrong direction, and my viz was reduced by the presence of my arms!

Any ideas?, or is it just a Fundies Team handshake kinda thing?

Any other hand position is extremely dangerous and could result in you becoming injured. I always call the dive if I get down and my buddy has his/her hands in a different, less optimal position. Anything other than the appropriate position is beyond the pale.

LOL!

Thanks, I needed that today!

Ok, I'll stop. I think it helps with trim when you have a "light head and heavy feet" by making you a little "longer" in the water and moving the center of gravity a little. You can use your hands as a counterweight..

Your first answer was more credible...........
The truth is I saw MHK do it once and I wanted to look as cool as he did in the water... Still working on that, but at least I learned where the bar is (and it isn't up the street)..
