Hey everybody, does anyone know if an STA can be used with some of the very light weight back plates for travel.

I know the Oxycheq ultra lite back plate looks to be a tight on piece so no room for attaching a STA.

Piranha has the Plastic traditional style back plate that looks like it could as it has the attachment points for doubles.

Any other possibilities out there for super light weight back plates (Non-metal)?

Is this a good setup for a travel BP/W ? Looks like the weight could get very low, unfortunately my wing only has two holes for an STA to attach the plate and all together.

Cheers!

I have a Kydex Plate from Deep Sea Supply that has well over 100,000 airline miles on it, so I'm pretty sure it travels well.

Although I haven't used a STA specifically on it, I have used it for lots of doubles dives. So I'm sure you can use a STA if you really want to.

...I'm not sure why you'd want to use a STA, though. The DSS plate and wing is designed to not use a STA, and works perfectly. The tank is closer to your back, and rolls around less; stays snug and comes loose less; and is less to pack, and lighter too.

All the best, James

I Agree. Also have one that I use for travelling purposes

Those Kydex plates look great!
Do you guys usually carry gear like that on board, or do you put it in the checked luggage?
I suppose it couldn't look THAT threatening, but you must get some wild looks through the x-ray machine :p
