Hi
I was certified back in 1989 but due to illness have not dived for ten years. I recently completed a refresher course and am going on a dive trip to Cuba in March. I have a twelve year old Tekna Dive Timer but the battery is dead. Does anyone know if the lithium battery can be replaced, and if so, how this is done? Thanks. :07:

Hello Ken,

You can cut a hole in the case and remove the old batery and replace it with a new one. You then need to fill the hole/battery compartment with epoxy. The problem is to find a truly non conductive epoxy that will not prematurely drain the battery.

I did this to mine about 10 years ago and it worked for a while. I also covered the battery and contacts with saran wrap and I am now wondering if I can dremel the old epoxy out and replace it again. They were nifty little bottom timers.

There is a shop out there that was advertising Tekna battery replacement along with replacement of the batteries in the Parkway/Uwatec bottom timers. Do a search on uwatec bottom timers and batteries and you should be able to find it.

Welcome to the board. Sorry, but I can't help you with that question. You might want to do a search for it.
