    Fat Secret

    Hey Gang,

As many of you know, I have a rather large weight issue. I have been very reluctant to do anything about it until now. Howie has suggested that I try something that he has used with some great success: Fat Secret on his Android. So this past week I finally gave in and started using it.

So far, it's been great. I have set my goal to keeping under 2000 calories a day in an effort to lose 85 pounds over the next 85 weeks. I have yet to exceed 1800 and I am counting EVERYTHING that goes past my lips.

Well, I noticed on the app that it had a synch function, and it connected me to their website. Well, lo and behold, they have a community as well. So, I thought it only fitting that we should create a ScubaBoard User group there. You can find it here!

It's amazing what logging your food can do for you. Lift, run, play, and log your food = success!

So far, I have lost 32 pounds using Fat Secret. Yesterday I went to the DWADD event at Santa Catalina Island in California. For the first time ever I wore a 7 mil suit. In order to sink I had to put on 34 pounds of weight. WOW!!! What I have lost in the last four months is AMAZING! FatSecret has been there encouraging me to not eat a bunch of crap too!

Also, I had a presentation to give at a major Scuba Manufacturer the day before. I had to actually fold my pants and I could almost stick my hand down my buttoned collar. That alone gave me a lot of confidence to do a great job teaching about social media.

I have since set my sights to lose 100 pounds and I am doing it at a little more than 2 pounds a week. I'm way OK with that process. At this rate, I could really look great by next year. It just takes a commitment of assuming total responsibility for what you eat. FatSecret provides a simple and effective way of doing that.

Awesome NetDoc and kudos on that amazing progress. People just don't want to believe that it really is just a matter of intake - exercise = net weight. Usually the pounds drop off from water loss etc at first, and then loss slows. Kudos on keeping that going. Hope you are adding some light to moderate exercise to tone and improve cardio vascular endurance. People also don't realize those little things you gain like balance! Amazing how your body gets it's center of gravity in the right place again. Great job and keep up the good efforts.

Great going....keep it up. On my last deployment I lost 36 pounds. Came home and thougt I was diagnosed with cancer......said screw it and enjoyed life....gained weight......then found out I probably didnt have cancer. duh. So now I am back at trying to lose what weight I gained back....not easy. Hang in there.

I don't touch paper. It's all on my phone. It will even scan barcodes to let me know the score.

It is still paperwork (IMO) just a electronic version of it. One problem I ran into is when I cook it gets real annoying putting everything in. I haven't tried this one but the others only seemed to work well on packaged or prepared foods. There wasn't an option for "roast beef sandwich on wheat with X,Y,Z"
