What material is the case of the DS-161 made of? Mine has a small crack where the ball adapter screws in and I want to use a little epoxy to fix it, but I need to use the right kind.

kombiguy,

It’s an ABS plastic. We suggest you send it in for evaluation and repair. An epoxy type fix is never a good idea with cracked plastics that are used underwater. Water pressure almost always causes the epoxied pieces to again separate and usually causes the crack to get worse causing a potential flood or catastrophic failure.

Send to:

Ikelite Underwater Systems
Attn: Repair Dept.
50 West 33rd St.,
Indpls., IN 46208

Turnaround time is normally 2 weeks from receipt.

Best Regards,

Brett Foster - Ikelite

Thanks. I'd send it in, but I just got it back after it spent a month with you. I'm not sure I want to part with it for another month. But thanks!

My apologies that it took so long to return last time. That is certainly not normal as we try to stick close to the 2 week turnaround time.

OP-----I'd call 'em up & speak to a live one---sorta kinda face to face, but voice to voice in this case............
