Hi, I'm Cameron, based in the Isle of Man. I've been a member of Scubaboard since April but have only just got around to formally introducing myself. (I actually did it last week, but it all went south along with all the other posts since 21/12 - shame I can't remember all the witty & eloquent things I wrote first time round! ;-)

I'm happy to be classed as a "Vacation Diver", much preferring the warmer waters of the Red Sea and the Med to the Irish Sea. However, I've done most of my training in the IOM - nothing like <2m visibility to add integrity to your navigation dive. I've never even owned a camera before, let alone taken one underwater, but I've recently done a photography specialism, and took my first real shots in the Maldives this month. Let's just say there's a lot of room for improvement, but I'm very happy with them. The need to improve my technique gives me a great reason to arrange some more trips next year.

welcome

Cameron,

Welcome to ScubaBoard ... the on-line gateway to Poseidon’s Realm. I see that you are primarily a “vacation” diver; nothing wrong with that. Have you looked into a local BSAC club on Mann? BSAC has some really great diving opportunities and discounts in many of the dive destinations that you mentioned.

Cheers,

~Oldbear~

Thanks Oldbear! I haven't dived with BSAC on the IOM - not yet anyway. I trained with a new PADI outfit up in Ramsey. Their instructor works beside me, and gets discounts in Sharm el Sheik so I'm sticking with him for now ;-)
