I'll start with an opinionated rant you can easily skip if you want.
I was never crazy about the idea of putting a lighter to a mask but I have seen it burn off the foggy stuff and I am aware people do it all the time without incident. I just find that toothpaste works fine and I'm not particularly fascinated with fire to the point where I feel an excessive need to employ it for any task that can also be completed by other means. I had this debate recently which led to the following:
Someone at a dive shop did my a "favor" and applied open flame to my mask that I have had for several years and since then, the skirt has been seperating from the glass in a few places. There's a surprising lack of info about this sort of thing so I am guessing it's either not much of an issue or actually kind of rare. Should I do nothing and just not worry about it? Should I use adhesive? Any particular kind? Should I just buy a new one?
I just love this mask, Scubapro Frameless Gorilla. I like the clear mask, it actually allows me to see reflections of objects above and behind me. Anywaypushing the skirt up with my thumb carefully so as not to stretch the opening but to show what I mean.
