Oh yeah... Hartwell is terrible. A man I work with and I go and do some playing around in Hartwell. You can generally see about 3-5' when you start... but the entire bottom is covered in this thick, easily stirred up nastiness that you might be able to term as a form of silt... and once you give the first kick with your fin, even if you are a few feet above the floor, its a done deal. Then... if you're looking for something, you have to get right on the bottom and just feel your way through the muck and hope you come across it.

Its interesting. He and I have become pretty good at searching for stuff in Hartwell, its just not all that fantastic to go dive in if you are actually wanting to see... but it is a place to log a dive... and right now, its uber warm!

We need to get a group together to go do the Junk or the Pumphouse...

yea, i've been wanting to do the pumphouse. i've yet to dive there. dove the junk last weekend, she was sitting in 45ft. the lake level is WAY down. the ramp looks like its a mile long lol

Hi My name is Bill, and I live in Easley. I usually hit Jocassee, every weekend. I have been to Moorehead city, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, The springs in Fl, and Curacao. Always looking for someone to buddy up with. We could use a better grouping here in SC to do group dives/cookouts, trips etc. Time to go and hit the ramp, maybe see you there.

Hello from Edisto Island! Several divers here that are spearos and fossil hunters.

Political Correctness: A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!

Anyone have a boat or know someone who does? If we could find someone with a boat, we could all split gas prices for the person bring the boat? If not, I can talk to the guys at Upstate or Bill at Off the Wall and see what we could get a charter together for.

We have a few people here in the upstate! Why aren't we diving together!? :)

Caleb

Down here around Hilton Head there are a few divers. We sightsee, spearfish, tooth hunt....whatever we are in the mood for, we also have several boats at our disposal as well.

The newest is a 38' Hatteras Sportfish Convertible that I will be bringing up from Miami in two weeks to run as a sportfishing and diving charter next year out of Hilton Head Island. If there are interested in parties in going on some runs before we open as a business, I would be happy to go out if everyone pitches in some money for fuel for the trip.

my regular dive buddy and i are working on getting a boat. hopefully he will know something about it soon. the one we would be getting though needs a new floor so once we get it, its gona be a while before its lake ready. that would be a great idea though. more of us upstate divers need to get together, andif some of you coastal, or mid state gays and gals wanna come up here feel free, id come down to dive with y'all

how far off shore are the sites. IE: how long is the boat ride lol

If my memory is correct, the boat rides are at least a couple of hours. You have to get that far offshore for good vis, plus thats where the wrecks are.

Just introducing myself. I am a novice diver living in upstate SC (near charlotte). I just finished my OW certification in the spring but I haven't had an opportunity to do any more diving since then. I would love to get together and dive with some people around the state.
