Good point, but I check my gas before I get to the water and tie off the tank, then I check to make sure the tank valve is shut. If the gas goes away when I was in the cave, what difference does it make if it had a gauge or not? I still have to deco on backgas.

Cheers :D

Sure, the resolution is the same. But why have unique regs? Moving stuff around may save your bacon someday.

Not if its on leash behind you. Of course a gauge doesn't help much there either...

But it is possible to lose gas and not know until some later portion of the dive. Or without a gauge to not know *** happened.

You make a very valid point. On a leashe you would not know, but your valve should be shut, right? if you do lose your o2, would your buddy not notice a buble trail? and furthermore the lost o2 cannot be reclaimed, therefore backgas deco would have to be performed anyway. Since I really only dive caves, I don't use a leashe. But I respect your method.

Cheers :D

True,

Maybe I am in the minority, but I have 4 dedicated o2 regs that are solely used on 100%. If the s*** hits the fan and I need to swap regs, then I would use a stage reg on my o2 bottle and it does have a spg. If I needed to use a 02 reg on my stage I would either:
1. thumb the dive right there. or
2. put my stage spg on my o2 reg (45 second swap)

But your point is valid. If I had an spg on my o2 reg, I could just swap it over and save the spg swap.

Cheers :D

This isn't one of those tricky TDI or DIR threads is it??? :rofl3:

Mike it appears you better have than beer $ handy.

I don't think so, but good call... Trick question? Do we all get beer?

Why do you have 4 O2 regs? I got one. Never needed more than 40cf of O2 either :)

I too like the button gauges.

I have one of those on an 'air only' 19cf rec pony bottle....works fine for that, but in no way would want it on a deco/stage cylinder--just my opinion.

1 for myself, 1 for my wife, 1 for my son and 1 spare. This sport would be a hell of alot cheaper if I bought for 1 instead of for 3...

Ha! then you are not doing it right....:D:lotsalove:

I haven't been doing it right since I took up sidemounting and rebreathers...

Does that mean that you won't dive with me until I get a SPG and a leashe? :eyebrow:

Cheers :D
