Go with Dive-Rite Fins! Made by cave divers for cave divers!

They are also plastic, positively buoyant (which does nothing for drysuit wearers), and expensive.

I think I'll stay with my Jets.

I wear XXL Jets with my DUI drysuit and rock boots. For warm water diving (wet suit) with neoprene boots, I wear XL Jets. Some people wear Chuck Taylors with their drysuits. Hope this helps. :palmtree: Bob

Chuck Taylors? That's AWESOME!

There is no rule, even in DIR, that cave divers must wear Jets. If you are looking for a shorter profile paddle fin you may want to try force fins. There are a lot of good paddle fins on the market, like Mares Quatros, or Aqualung Blades.

Size has been discussed. Get the ones that FIT!

I heartily agree, which is why I made the comment above that I did. I was forced into XLs by the boots that came with my new dry suit; I hated them, and have had to fiddle around to find footgear that would allow me to use my Ls again.

On the other hand, I refuse to use anything but my XL Jets, because I haven't found anything thus far that has produced as much thrust as they do. But I also have big feet and wouldn't fit into a L...

On a slightly different note -- did I read correctly that the OP took a cave class...in splits...? :11::11:

I seriously doubt it

After taking my cave class in scubapro twinjets w/ spring straps I have decided to get a pair of regular jet fins or something similar but only because the twin jets seemed to long and seemed more apt to tick the ceiling in tight areas.
Just going by what they said...

I seriously doubt it

At least not with my instructor.

XL Jets and a regular wet suit bootie are perfect for my size 13w feet. My XXL Jets are perfect for my rockboots, but jeez they take a good bit more effort to dive than the XL's.

Correct I took the class in size large yellow scubapro twin jet split fins. Thats all I own and in fact the other guy in my class had apollo splits and 2 other people in my little group also dove apollo split fins. Thats what we had and since I didn't know if I was gonna even like cave diving I didn't want to commit to a new pair of fins and spring straps yet. Splits worked good but they were to long and dont allow a back kick (reverse gear). I dont really want to get into an argument over splits but since my fins didn't cause any damage to the cave nor did I cause any silt clouds I personally feel it was not worth getting new fins for 1 week of diving. With that said I am looking at jet style fins for future use. Frog kicking with splits works fine but is hardly as effective as with traditional jets.

I'm not saying that you didn't do it but...and I'll have to check my NSS/CDS cavern thru cave workbook, but I believe that paddle fins are a required piece of equipment even at the cavern level. I personally believe that their (splits) greatest hazard would be getting your line caught between the splits and then causing all kinds of interesting things to happen.
