Here's a post from Spearboard:Missing Diver out of Clearwater? - Spearboard Spearfishing Community

"The missing diver is the cousin of a friend of mine. She didn't have much info regarding what exactly happened other than the diver's wife saw him struggling as he was approaching the surface after his second dive. The crew on the boat jumped in to try to help but he sank out of their free diving reach."
"If anyone is going to be out in this area, please keep an eye out. We are praying for a miracle."

Heard the Coast Guard on the Radio Saturday saying "diver Down" . Never heard those words in my 40 years on the water. Now I know why they said it. The lat/long they gave was way South of me that day or I would of run down and helped in the search..

Had to be out of air I assume or he would just hit the inflate button and pop to the surface.

Sad to hear.

Being a Instructor and owner of the only Coast Guard Certified Dive boat in the Tampa Bay area I would like to know the details if we ever find out.

Was just going to post about this... We heard the call come in yesterday as well.

This is the first I have ever heard of an innapropriate place for condolences...

This thread is located in the Accidents and Incidents forum. If you'll scroll up to the top of the web page displaying this thread, there's a note there to go see the sticky post Special Rules - please read for additional rules that SB has for the Accidents and Incidents forum. One of those rules is "no condolences".

In practice no one minds too much if there are a few condolences, especially if they're part of another post. However, when too many standalone condolence posts start to appear or the temperature of the thread starts to get a little high, there will be a few gentle reminders like the one above to follow SB rules and try to keep emotions out of the Accidents and Incidents forum.

It is not an absurd rule. This forum is used to analyze and educate. Condolences are for the passings thread. We learn by others mistakes and while emotion is unavoidable totally it should not cloud the purpose of the forum. If everyone let emotion rule their thinking all the time no progress would be made in many areas that actually save lives. Death is a part of life and no one can change that. We can however by unbiased analysis use those deaths to prevent others.
