See them? Heck, if I see something I like I'll just take it. Good for the goose, good for the gander.

I bring up somethings as well. Mostly trash and things that are harmful to the environment. I guess my way of looking at it is: If at this time it has been made part of the active environment leave it.

This is a stupid troll thread, but since it accidentally raises a valid discussion topic (for the 110th time) I'll give my 2 cents.

I've always thought that if its part of the wreck (porthole, anchor) leave it alone. With loose artifacts on a wreck site it depends on the context, for example simple tools from the engine room of a wreck are fascinating in the wreck but would be somewhat stupid out of context on your shelf as would an ordinary plate or cup. Where as china with a company or ship logo or some fascinating artifact like a pocket watch or a pistol would make an excellent shelf piece and id be all for that. Anything not part of a site or clearly off the main site where nobody could appreciate it anyways is also fair game, though if its something important to people appreciating the wreck like a ships binnacle buried in the mud, its probably better to move it to the wreck so people CAN appreciate it. On the other hand if its an object thats perfectly preserved from being buried out of sight and would be corroded or buried in zebra mussles or something by placing it where others can enjoy it then you might as well take it. I place preservation of individual artifacts above keeping the wrecks cargo and items intact.

In 63 posts?

Thats almost 4 cents a post! Thats nearly 100% better than the average returns per post normally encountered in this part of the world.

The problem with rubbish posted to stir people up is that others read it and try to justify their behavior with it. Some even believe it is correct and don't realize that when they are clearly in the minority that is not because the majority is stupid!

That object you covet could be a landmark used by many divers over years. One of the "landmarks" was removed from a popular site and makes it harder to describe locations for turns and finding other things. The missing landmark is on dive maps in books and slates dating years back.

Removing that useless chunk of metal was easy to do but impacts many particularly in bad viz!

We respect our wrecks here in Jersey. We never take any artifacts. Well... you wanted pictures....here is a beauty...My wife gets mad i put this in our flower garden...

As for the funny characters. I don't know what happend with that. I wrote that post in the Windows notepad and then used copy/paste to put it on scubaboard. I guess my computer uses a slightly different character set than the scubaboard database does.

R..

Yep. If you copy and paste from notepad or word you will often times get those funny characters. You either live with it or preview and correct the errors.

In case you never paid attention in history class: federal law supercedes state law. The state's can, in theory, pass any law they wish. However, if it violated a Supreme Court ruling they would lose federal funding and thus being these economic times, well, would end up like the state of California.

Looks a little like you've never read the constitution. Federal law only supercedes state law when it applies to those powers given to the federal government. If a state makes a law the feds don't like outside of federal jurisdiction then all the feds can do is whine and complain and threaten to MAYBE take away some funding, (which usually doesn't happen because whoever is in power doesn't want to lose votes or congressional members in the next election). This happens all the time too, BTW. The feds weren't happy at all about the various medical marijuana laws that were passed in several states but they didn't have any power to reverse or overrule them.
