Well, I emailed my son's future mother-in-law (she and her husband own a tropical fish store). I had been conversing with them about what to do. I was going to put the rocks outside to dry. She said that I might be better freezing the rock, that would ensure that everything died and it would be faster than leaving it out in the sun for a week (and smell less).

So I grabbed some ziplocs and put some rock in them. I noticed something moving on the bottom of the bin. I ran and got some tongs (a pair I don't like and can now replace them with a better pair) and pulled out more rock. It was in the bottom of the bin! It must have come out of it's nest in the rock in search of water!

So I sent a PM to the woman that wanted it on a seahorse forum I belong to and she and I met up to make a trade. I took some video and hope to get it posted on youtube. I'm having a hard time getting it uploaded.

But I was really thinking about the legend of the alligators in the sewers of New York, flushed down there by mothers disgusted by baby mail-order pets. When I heard this from my friend's father (he claimed to have one flushed), I believed it. Granted, I was probably 10, but it sounded possible. I can just see them multiplying down there.
