It can definitely be done in a very small vehicle. I can get one set of doubles, my deco bottle, my stage bottle, two Rubbermaid containers containing all my other dive essentials, my drysuit bag, my small dry bag, and my laptop bag and my overnight bag in.....a Miata! :D

The rules are...never weigh your fully-rigged doubles rig and never (under ANY circumstances) sit down and tally how much money you've spent on dive gear, because the truth will horrify you. Oh, and don't leave more than one set of doubles in a dark room...their tendency to multiply is famous. If my KISS-toting fiance's behavior is anthing to go by, the same holds true for rebreathers - he's already making sheep's eyes at other folks' rigs.

Getting a new vehicle is a rather large expense just to be able to carry an extra tank.:D

Like logic ever enters into the equation when it comes to dive gear? :rofl3:

Greetings to all my fellow SB brothers and sisters I must confess there are two things none of us should ever do! First of all never bring up the cost of our dive gear and Second never stop the need for more! Sounds like a sickness that is shared over the mast majority of divers entering the Tech realm. The bottom line is one must have what it takes if you are going to pursue a more challenging dives, "deeper / longer", overhead environments, wreck penetration, etc. The training alone requires the obsessive gear habit or at least that is what I tell myself. But alas I have never been any happier and all the weight I will gladly bear as long as I can. I have forgone purchasing a new vehicle so I can afford to buy more gear and dive more. Not diving is not an option I have a two week dry rot limit that will not allow for extended dry times.
Thus dry suit, doubles, and much more ensure my ability to dive when ever and what ever I want. The training that goes with it is priceless. Only in my wildest dreams did I ever believe I would be able to go the places I have been and experience the sights I have seen. I hope diving never quits to amaze me, there is a lot more to see!
Safe diving to all and keep feeding the need for more everyone, after all it is our nature.
CamG Keep diving....keep training....keep learning!

Well today was my first doubles dive too. It went pretty well considering I knew it wasn't going to be perfect. I tried diving lp 85s wet, with a ss bp. Didn't quite work so well. They wanted to turtle bad. I need to tighten my harness and I think this will help, but I still need an al bp at least. Learning experience and look forward to learning more and getting used to it.

A larger vehicle acquired to carry more tanks MAKES it dive equipment.

I'm going to need a bigger vehicle to tow all my tanks now. lol

Quote from one of my all time favorite movies "We're gonna need a bigger boat"

Maybe that should be "We're gonna need a bigger truck".
