I tried that. Even put a garden tap on between the can and the hose (safety). Being safety minded I only went about ten feet deep. As soon as I oppened the tap, the water flooded in the bottom of the can, damn near drowned myself.

What you do is use kerosene in the top of the bucket as it will not mix with the water and the wick in the top of the bucket will stay light!
