My Girl as we speak is taking a OW course now...thanks to me...

She says that she wants to take some Adv courses, and join me in the Invade the Keys trip, which falls on her birthday, I think it may make an awesome birthday present..

My wife doesn't dive (tried it, didn't like it). At the moment it works out well, because we have different interests and can split time taking care of the kids.

A question for those who are:

A) Certified scubadivers who dive at least once per year

AND

B) In a relationship - married, living with a partner or seeing a partner on a regular basis

Is your partner/spouse/significant other a certified diver (any level)?

My girlfriend, Jen, is certified as a PDIC Instructor, PADI DM, TDI Intro to Tech, TDI Advanced Nitrox, TDI Decompression Procedures, GUE-Fundies, and NSS-CDS Basic Cave.

She was certified before we met and working as a dive pro. She was my student for a technical boot camp. After that, we started dating. She then took other technical and cave courses and did her instructor training with me. I did not believe it to be a conflict of interest since she had been diving for 20 years, worked in Aruba & St. Thomas as a PADI pro, and was working at a NAUI shop as a DM when we met. I held her to USCG rescue swimmer & USLA lifeguard times, skills and standards for applicable swimming and rescue skills. She worked the hard and did a better job than any student I've had. Not only does she dive, she does it extremely well and can play with me in any environment. We did a sidemount clinic together and became certified underwater habitat specialty divers together after spending a romantic night underwater in Jules' Undersea Lodge.

My wife doesn't but my dive buddy does! Who I guess then would be my partner????

Hey, Papa, note the title of the thread:

"Does your partner (spouse, girl/boy friend dive)?"

Are you trying to tell us something and, more importantly, should you be telling your wife? :D:wink:

My wife is a certified diver, but she doesn't not actively dive. I go back and forth on whether that's a good thing (for me).

My wife got certifed 12 years ago but never got comfortable under water. I tried to get her to take refresher cources but she declined and I didn't push.

She don't mind me diving and almost all our vactions are along the atlantic coast. Whenever I'm not diving I ask what would you like to do. I'm so glad she lets me dive whenever I want, so I want to let her do anything she wants also.

My wife and I started diving together when we were dating. We both love it and most of our vacations involve diving.
