Hi Tobin. Some months ago I have bought few Stage Straps from your store. I see on your site that I can use it with Al80 tanks. Yesterday I have tried to use them, but the cam band was too short. You can see the picture:

Explain it please. Below on the photo is the OMS Cam Band for comparison.

p.s. Sorry for my bad english.

Our stage kit is designed to be used on either al 80's or al 40's.

There is a big difference in the diameter of these two tanks, al 40's are 5.25 inches in diameter and al 80's are 7.25 inches in diameter.

That means there is a ~6.3 inch difference in circumference. When using the kit with an al 80 you may not be able to secure the "tail" of the band to the velcro.

I'd suggest closing the buckle without weaving the band through the "#4" slot in the buckle. If the buckle is snug it will remain closed. Try it.

It's a lie. As you can see it's not designed to the using on 80's.
I have tried to swim with the buckle like on a photo and by the end of the dive the band almost didn't hold a tank.

What do you mean? Weaving the band through the "#4" slot don't reduce its length. And in any case this method will be very unreliable.

p.s. By the way, the diameter of my al 80's is only 6.73 inches (171 mm). You tell me about 7.25"?! Maybe we use different rigging sets?

You are welcome to return the rigging and we will process a refund.

I can't and you know this. I have paid $45 for shipping and now I must pay the same for returning. Bad idea because two rigging's cost only $120.

I just lost $165 because you give the wrong information on your site. Nice job. I love your company. Hope the money made you more happy.

It does not make sense... the velcro does not hold the tank, it just cannot prevent the movement - that's the buckles job. Velcro is there just to hold the free end of strap so it stays nice against the tank. In this case you just do not need to hold it as there is no free end. You have enough bands in the buckle for the strap not to slide.

I'm not sure which one Tobin uses but many straps are getting slightly longer when they are wet. At least I experience this with all my tank holding straps from different manufactures.

Have your strap wet then size it and close the buckle. do not over-tighten it much as the strap might eventually break the buckle when it shrinks. You can also put a small piece of rubber under the strap. It will reduce the load on the buckle when the strap shrinks drying out. I have 3 single tank rigs including back plate and BCDs from different manufactures. If I do not size it properly when I have the strap WET the tanks lose their grip.

On your picture it's luxfer Al80 ? How can it be 6.73 ? I have one luxfer al80 and it's the same 7.25 as the Catalina.

I'm not sure what your real goal is here.

I offered you a work around so you could use the gear you have.

In response you called me a liar.

I offered to refund your money and you tell me you cannot return the goods.

Not sure what else I can do.

What is stamped on the tank neck?

If it's a luxfer 80 you should find "S80" stamped into the crown. S80's are 7.25" in diameter.

I checked the Luxfer Website. It does not appear they make any cylinders that are 171mm in diameter. They do make a 152mm (5.98") , a 176mm (6.93") and a 204mm (8.03")

How do you know that DSS isn't willing to reimburse you for the shipping costs? Might want to do this before you go about accusing or offending the company.

I honestly don't understand the issue. I have several setups where using a particular tank won't allow me to Velcro my cambands (which are not DSS) and it doesn't make any difference to the security of the bands, if they are tightened properly to begin with.
