I am planning my setup for going with a Back Plate and Wing. I am planning on doing doubles dives in the near future and after that will probably use doubles most dives. The question is should I get a singles wing and a doubles wing or just go with the doubles and use it for single tank diving if I do any?
Other than the streamlining issue is there a reason to have both? Am I just missing the big flick here cause I'm thinking a doubles setup will work with a single tank.

What say you?
Bob

Wings made for doubles used for a single tank are really floppy and hard to get use to. I would recommend getting a single wing first. Get a double wing when you are ready for doubles. The single wing can be your vacation and loaner wing for friends.

Get a Singles wing for Singles Tank and Doubles for diving. They make them differnt for a reason.
Halcyon is Nice setup easy to switch between wings.

Unless you are diving really tiny doubles, I'd avoid a combo wing. Buy used and you can get them cheap enough to have a singles and a doubles wing around. The taco effect can be severe enough to make diving with a doubles wing and a single tank very much less fun than diving with a singles wing :)

It won't work well. Not just streamlining, but when taco-ing around your tank a too-large wing will trap air and not vent as well as an appropriately sized singles wing.

I have to go with the majority here. Get both a doubles wing and a singles wing. For the singles wing I would suggest the Oxycheq Mach 5 series, they make them in 18, 30 or 40 LB lift depending upon your personal needs.

For doubles wings, I don't know what's the best. Somebody else will have to help you with that.

Better yet is to have one setup for singles and one for doubles. Switching between was just too much of a pain for me.

Same here. I have a full setup for both. A doubles wing generally doesn't work so well with a single tank.

OK you guys convinced me(it was real hard). I will go the singles route and then get a seperate doubles rig when ready. Thanks for the info. Now I just need to decide which one I want.
