I'm a Fish!
I want to take an intro to tech class and I can only find two shops with 100 miles that can do it. One is TDI and one is SSI. Prices are close and I dont know either instructor. Any opinions on which one I should go with.

What you get out of a TDI class is almost entirely dependent on the instructor, and I've never seen the SSI class (it's very new).

Sorry for the non-help, but you'll probably need to check the two shops in person and talk to people who have taken the classes.

It comes down to the Instructor, don't make it about the agency. Set up a meeting with both Instructors so that you can interview (background/philosophies) them and then make your choice.

As others said choose by the instructor. The SSI courses focus more on dive planning from the manuals. I'm sure the skills are about the same.

I'd go TDI just because they don't say their program is "Xtreme"

Wow, SSI has some silly course discriptions. Just on the basis of their website, I would defintely go with TDI.

The TDI Intro to Tech course gets my vote, but then again, maybe I am biased. In any case, talk to the instructors to get an idea of their philosophy and experience.
