I've answered plenty of questions in this thread, I just don't agree with the concept that I am somehow compelled to engage in any discussion topic people choose to bring up whether I find it interesting & relevant or not, or that I should be required to define simple words that are in common usage, especially when I have used them in context. That's hardly shutting the door on any discussion at all

it seemed that you had access to oxygen and a compressor. From there you can get all kinds of mixes with a whip and a gauge.

Are you suggesting I should have used EAN as a bottom mix?

So now you're okay with the dive but I should have done a 20 minute 6m stop on air. Noted

Like you I think higher PO2 at the bottom would not be a good idea.

Like the others I am more interested in the deco gasses. Your indication of the water temp suggests that you could just chill out and have a good time at 20' and 10'. Run old NAVY tables and get a little more bottom time and do the whole thing on air.

What setup did you find yourself with at the resort? Was the 50 and 100 more for emergency or preventative measures, since you were far from a chamber?

I believe the three guys I quoted were all talking about the bottom mix

the foolish aspects of air diving are accepted, widely known and documented

Yeah, You might be surprised depending on the tables. 5 min at 290' your last stops might have been 25min at 6m and 40-60min at 3m on some older school NAVY or Haldane type tables.

I can't find my old deep air tables, but looking online at the 1999 US Navy tables, they give you 5min at 190' as No decompression limit.

They used to be on the back of the PADI Open Water book down to 200' circa 1984 if memory serves me right.

What tables(software) did you use?

So was this thread really only supposed to be a back slapping thread where everybody told you how great you were for going that deep on air? You have been asked several specific questions pertaining to the dive which have been ignored; people have tried to engage you in intelligent conversation on aspects of the dive (some are, yes, other possiblilities) and things that might allow the reader to gain some knowledge from this thread but you refused to talk to them........what was the point of this thread if not a troll? This is actually a serious question because I find it hard to believe that I am the only one shaking my head at your attitude in this thread.

Quote.....Make up your mind

Sorry, I don't think I explained myself properly.

1.) Yeah, I'm not judging you on making a deep air dive. That has been a discussion with 1000's of people weighing in for years and years. You made a dive on air as you bottom "gas"....end of story.

2.) I am interested about what led you to use 50% and 100% as your deco mixes: logistics; cause I felt like it; it was cheaper; I looked at the tables and I could get out of the water faster; felt I wouldn't get bent etc etc. I have no idea there.

3.) A possibility since you don't seem to have any qualms about deep air diving. I personally did all my deep air diving with air as the only deco gas.

Nope, you're not. I tried asking some serious questions in order to gain some perspective on the choices made here, but apparently those aren't up for discussion.

Yes that's right; it's a well-known fact that the most effective way to achieve the admiration of scubaboard.com members at large is to post a deep air thread
