I was thinking ... if dives in Jupiter get blown out, where do locals go as a back up destination?
:idk:

30 mins south to the Blue Heron Bridge (my recommendation!), or back up to cave/cavern country.

Actually, there is a great option - The Blue Heron Bridge @ Phil Foster Park located in Riveria Beach, just south of Jupiter - there is a looooong thread in this forum with lots of great info, posts, pix, tide info, etc (The continuing saga of the Blue Heron Bridge its called).

Its a shallow, truly unique, fantastic dive - well worth doing. You do have to dive it at slack high tide, so timing can be important. The springs of central and northern FL are also an option, but they are not what I would call close.

There is not really a practical offshore option - if its rough in Jupiter - located in northern Palm Beach county, its not likely to be significantly different in Miami, Ft Lauderdale, or the upper Keys - its only about 150 miles from Jupiter to Key Largo.

This weekend looks OK (From the NOAA site for N. PB county offshore):

Saturday...Northeast winds 10 to 13 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet. Dominant period 5 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Slight chance of sprinkles.

Saturday Night...Northeast winds 8 to 11 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of sprinkles.

Sunday...East northeast winds 6 to 9 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Slight chance of sprinkles

I have heard so much of the Blue Heron Bridge. I am signed up to dive with JDC Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If anything gets canceled, Ill try to make it there.

BHB is a great back-up place to dive. There are all kinds of neat sea critters to be found, and if you time it right, you can get over 1-1/2 hrs on your dive! Make sure you plan it for slack high tide, though, as that's the best (and really ONLY) time you can get a fantastic dive!

Tides aren't going to work out to well for you at BHB Mon-Wed.

You shouldn't have to worry about being blown out monday through wednesday, based on the current surf forecast.

Thanks for looking that up, Kevin. Another possibility would be to check farther south. Sometimes the weather is a bit better down there. Shore diving in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea can be done, but I'd check with the locals down first to make sure it's not crapped out as well. Hopefully this weather will pass and the boats here will go out.
