...Clothes: weather looks nice and warm, but will it be cool enough on the water, that a boat coat or similar would be nice?

A while ago on SB I had read a recommendation for a boat coat.. someone said something to the effect of, they tried several cheaper ones before they gave up and purchased XXX and never looked back... Does anyone have any idea what XXX could be? I tried to find the post again, to no avail.

I did find some positive reviews for the Surf-Fur coat and the dive parka from TruWest. Any experience with one of these, or any other recommendations? This post made me realize some sort of coat would not be a bad idea for this trip. (I've needed one before and not had it, and it wasn't fun!)

I have a brand new XXXL TruWest dive parka that's too big for me that someone can borrow or purchase...

Peter and I LOVE our TruWest parkas. They're warm, windproof, waterproof and extremely durable. A bunch of friends have them, too.

Oh, and part of the problem with bringing wing nuts is that bolts are different sizes -- we only have one.

I have a pair of XL Jets with springs you can try, Henrik. They're my backups in case I need to wear my Chucks instead of wetsuit booties. I was going to bring them along anyway.

That's great! Thank you.

Not much down-side to bringing a pair along, just in case.

Like Lynne asked ... size: 3/8" or 5/16". I only have 3/8" wingnuts.

I've seen the TruWest parkas, and they're very well made. Thick and fluffy fleece liner and light but strong outer shell. Good stuff.

XXXL is HUGE ...

I am sure Dan or Errol will chime in on the wing nut issue. There are numerous marine hardware stores nearby if needed...

Ok, Henrik. You can borrow my XXL Truwest parka. I have other foul weather gear I can utilize. You never know what the weather will be this time of year. Could be 80 degrees that weekend. If so, no Speedos allowed on the boat. :D

That's great. Thanks Scott.

So, no speedos then, eh :D

I've found the parkas useful even when the air temps are in the 80s, but of course, that was when I was diving wet. In fact, I learned about them in Cozumel!

:shocked2: :scorned:

oh, you should be thanking me ...
