Opinion time, especially for the guys. What do you wear under the wetsuit? I have tried the basic swim truncks, but they tend to bunch up, and get uncomfortable. I have seen alot of guys go with the banana hammock speedos, but I couldn't make myself get into one of those. Personally, I went with some spandex bicycle shorts. Of course, I look like 10 pounds of S**T in a 5 pound bag, but it's the best I could come up with.

My son just wears his boxer shorts. But since we are going on a charter boat in a few months, and I am not sure of the changing accomodations, he will probably want to go with something else.

I was thinking of getting some of those, it seems like a great idea, no bunching up at all huh?

I usually only wear a thin layer of water, the wet suit works better that way.

If you have changing issues than I have a pair of Aeroskins and another pair of IDive polypropylene shorts. They are like bike shorts, but they are made of material that is ment to be wet, dry out fast and has a little thermal value. Lycra bike shorts will stay wet and have no thermal protective value.

Then ther is also the old U.S. Navy swimmers shorts that will make you look like a throwback to the late '60s or earily '70s. They are usually cotton or a cotton mix that dries out fast and they are really short which reduces bunching up the legs. Bad thing is they don't have any lining so the twins have a tendancy to peak out if you sit down.

It's like nothing's there! I used to wear board shorts, and like the OP said, the bunching is horrible. Then I tried some underwear instead... all is good except they loose the elasticity when they're wet and get all droopy and take forever to dry. The speedo shorts are skin tight and dry fast!

I use a pair of compression shorts that are similar to the bicycle shorts - kinda like longer boxer briefs. I've used swim trunks before as well without too much of a problem, but prefer the compression shorts since they don't bunch up.

agree with all above in regard to the bike/compression shorts. If you don't like your appearance, throw a pair of land lover shorts on over them while on deck....

Damn... I just lost my iced tea on my keyboard...

+1 for compression shorts... they work best... (long as they don't compress *too* much...)
