Best dive operator in Cozumel for novice divers

just returned Saturday night from Cozumel.We stayed at Del Mar and used Scuba House .No issues, they are 1 of the inhouse operators for Del Mar and for Fiesta Americana as well.Crew was good and attentive. Ask for Jose and Orlando if you can. We were on boat IV with them all week.

Did you mean Dive House? That has been the long time inhouse op for Fiesta Americana.

INZ .... I'll 2nd CV's recommendation. We found Alison (Scuba with Alison) on-line while looking for a dive op to use on a cruise ship stop there. It was our 2nd time diving there on a cruise ship stop, and the previous experience had been less than stellar, so I was nervous. Alison was prompt in responding to e-mails, and clear with her information. We arrived at the marina, filled out some paperwork, and we were off! She was great, she was funny, but the best thing for me was she made me feel comfortable and safe. After that 1st time, we used her whenever we hit a cruise that stopped at Coz. We started flying to the island, and did try a few other ops due to stay/dive deals being convenient. Didn't take me too long to realize that my dives were so much better - and longer - when I dove with Alison. Come this November trip, we'll have been diving with her for 7 years. What I've noticed over all these years is how well she handles people. She pays attention - both in and out of the water. I always hear her asking people new to her boat questions about their comfort zone, what's their depth comfort, (or as cv noted) do they want to come up together or are they fine separating on who sucks air faster. I've seen her work with teenagers and I've seen her teaching new students. So I guess I can say I'm a big 'cheerleader' for Alison as well. After all these years, I also consider her a good friend. And I think you'll find that many of her divers feel the same.

Oh yeah ..... she picks up at FA no problem!! We stay there as well. Usually have a nice breakfast, then go to the pier at the appointed time. Once you get familiar with the Maximus (a very comfy boat!!) you'll spot Carlos, her boat captain, pulling out of the marina and zipping right towards you every morning!!

My $.02 = You might be delighted with Dive House, the on-site operator at FA. I've stayed at FA several times, used both Dive House and other operators, and am fond enough of a couple of Dive House DMs to dive with them -- and dine with them -- simply because I liked them. Indeed, they've been attentive, helpful and patient, which is what I look for as well. There are times when I enjoy the company of a larger group; times when I want small, faster boats. In that case, I call Dive With Martin, 'cause that's who I like. Go and have fun, no matter.

I must recommend Matt (Mateo) at Blue Angel. Great guy and very patient. He is the only Scuba instructor on staff there, the rest of the dive masters are also great, but Matt is best for new divers.

Hello. My husband and me are going to Cozumel in June. We both are novice divers (just got certified in Dominica 3 month ago). We need a recommendation as to the best dive shops. We are going to be staying at Fiesta Americana. I read mixed reviews for FA dive shop. Because of the endless selection of dive shop in Cozumel I am totally confused. I would say we are looking for attentive, helpful, patient DM. Please help!!!!!
