Hi I was wondering where is a good website to buy scuba equipment. I am looking for new equipment since I will be doing a lot of scuba diving in the coming months. I would prefer a website where I can get equipment from a variety of manufacturers. Please don't message me about used equipment. Thanks.

I say just buy from your LDS alot will price match if they know you will be a regular or they will drop to a price slightly worse than online. I can take in any scubatoys, leisurepro, diverssupply add and 9/10 times my LDS will match, plus I know they service the product and I know it contributes to them sticking around longer.

I also forgot you also get to check the merch to know its a yoke instead of din reg, that your wetsuit is the right color and not red (i dont know why but i hate red on wetsuits) and you dont have to wait for it.

I happen to know of a place... (in case it's not obvious, check my signature)

LeisurePro does a price match +5% on most items, have great package prices and can work with you to get the equipment you need at the best possible price. Feel free to send me a private message if you have any questions I can answer.

I like to try on gear that is size specific, and that cannot be done with on line purchase. I join with the other poster that buying at a retail outlet has advantages, even if the price is a little higher, which it won't necessarily be. I live in an area where there are several different shops, and they vary in the lines they carry. I look at manufacturer web site to initiate shopping, and then go to a shop and see if they carry what I am interested in. I also like the idea of buying from a shop that services that line of gear. With purchase , my home shop offers a 2 time "free service" on bc's and regulators, which has the effect of making them more than competitive with online pricing, and I don't mail in my gear, I drop it off and pick it up a few days later. But is you are an online only person, try Diversdirect.com.

There are a lot of places to get equipment.
There is always someone selling used equipment on SB, ebay, etc. For the most part, I haven't heard of any issues with SB related sales.... But ebay, "Be very careful"

There is also some that love the online distributors, prices are good, but for the most part, the items most time don’t come with the manufactures warranty, that a BIG issue if there is anything wrong with it.

The Best bet is going with your LDS, like the earlier posts stated, "most will price match" and you know its the right fit and color. I have never heard of a LDS item not being covered by warranty, and in some cases, they will replace the item, no questions asked.

Actually most items purchased on line do come with the mfg warranty. It is only a couple of them that do not allow on line sales. They are slowly seeing a bit of their business go to those that do. One or two have moved or are moving in the direction of on line sales by allowing you to put an order together and then get you in contact with an lds to fill it.

More progressive companies not only allow but encourage their dealers to sell on line. I'm one of those dealers and for items I do not have I buy from other on line retailers about 99% of the time.

Some retailers offer their own warranties on items that the mfg may not offer because the dealer decides to sell the items over the net. They get the items from overseas where such restrictive practices are illegal or from other retailers going out of business. They then pass the savings on to the diver.

Some don't like that this happens and fault the retailer. But when the quantities are as big as some are it defies logic that the mfg is really upset about it. Someone, somewhere has somebody's blessing to be able to do this in my opinion. Not a stated fact but when it has feathers, two webbed feet, and quacks it is certainly not an elephant.

I will not proliferate the warranty coverage issues from now on.
The point I was trying to make was…. Shop around, and being able to check the form and fit at the LDS is a great advantage.

Some online retailers (not just us) offer sizing services that allow the purchaser to buy a few sizes and return the ones that don't fit at no additional charge. Regarding the price no necessarily being higher, you are lucky. I've traveled fairly extensively and in most cities, the in-store prices are nowhere near online prices. Sometimes if you ask, you'll get a match, other times they'll virtually kick you out of their store. I can't speak for other online retailers, but LeisurePro does service the gear we sell. Your local shops 2 time free service is a great value added service and more dive centers should offer such things, but again, I rarely if ever see anything like that in my travels. Just out of curiosity, why did you list many reasons you would never go online, then recommend one specific retailer with no reasons shared?

Like Dennis, you have a good local shop. Keep buying there. Of the ~15 local dive centers in my area, if I pick any of them at random, walk in and ask the price on something, it's typically going to be 30%+ more than anywhere online, not just LeisurePro. If I ask about price matching, I'm treated like an idiot. If I *do* buy something and have a problem with it, I can take it back to the store I purchased it from and let *them* send it in since they are "too busy" to do repairs on site. So again, consider yourself lucky that you have a local dive center that operates this way, there are very few that I've been to that do.

As I've said on here before: before working for LP, I worked for an incredible local dive center. Prices, selection, inventory and service were all great and markup over online was *maybe* 10%, if that. If you have a local dive center like that, buy from them. If you have a local dive center that charges 30%+ more than online, you have to do 5 laps around the store before a staff person magically appears from the back of the store to help you, they charge you $25 to try on a wetsuit and they act like they'd rather be doing anything other than sell you SCUBA gear, vote with your dollars and go online.
