Probably because she's a woman and doesn't apologize or ask for permission to be herself. Some people get intimidated by that combination.

Mostly the men with little weenies.

H'mm, I have yet to understand why people hare Sarah Palin so much. I mean, I understand why liberal / progressive folks disagree with her views. That's fine and expected, but there are a lot of men with the same views that don't catch half the flack she does.

A woman can't be called a sexist so conservative women are dumb, stupid..........and because she is conservative a threat to the stero type of women being mostly "progressive". So she must be taken down.

I don't think it is her gender, but her Dan Quale-esque understanding of policy.....

I see you have his same keen sense of spelling (its Dan Quayle not Dan Quale). Lucky for you, your not a conservative running for office.

Anyway, what I was referring to was the like of Joe Scarborough, one of the morning show talking heads accusing Sarah Palin of being responsible for the shooting of Congresswoman Gifford's in 2011. This is not a difference of opinion or criticism which are expected, it pure maliciousness.

There was no doubt she didn't have a total grasp of all of the issues in 2008. Alaska is like it's own country, I can easily understand being isolated from the national scene and topics while dealing very successfully with the microcosm of Alaska. Being thrown into a national election means you're suddenly going to have to vastly expand your knowledge base of issues, be faced with suddenly becoming an 'expert' on at least a hundred issues that you've never had to explore or decide your policies on. She needed a lot more time to get up to speed, which wasn't available.

That being said, while she was forced to scramble and play catch up because of her sudden new responsibilities as being a potential VP, that has no bearing on who she was prior to that and her past accomplishments. A stumble while trying to digest an avalanche of new information doesn't diminish her political past or make her stupid or anything else.

It's no different than a person in the private sector being given a big promotion and needing to get up to speed on all the new job requirements, you're going to stumble for a bit until you get a handle on it all.

There is no doubt for a time she was coasting on her 'personality' while she tried to get up to speed on the issues. Wenches like Katie Couric wanting to further their personal political agenda took note of Palin's temporary volunerability and exploited the situation.

I would agree as you make a very reasoned argument, except I haven't heard her say anything intelligent in the past 4 years (and I didn't hear anything she said before that). How much time does she need to get up to speed?

You seem to have a convenient memory, remember the health care debacle about "Death Panels". Sweet Sarah was front and center on that one. A huge disservice was done to everyone.

She's an opportunist that puts her own self-promotion above any sort of public service. That may be your preference, it certainly is not mine

I think that pretty much defines 90% of senior politicians.....

A number of people have implied that I was being sexist, I think that her policy comments have been what has bothered me. Like Quayle, she was plucked from obscurity to be a heart beat away from leadership, and completely unprepared for it. Her comments about death panels were another area where I felt she play very heavy handed with the truth, along with assertions that she was an aggreived party after the Gifford tragedy. The nail in the coffin for me was her leaving the governorship to cash in at FOX. She took a job for the people of Alaska and after 2 years ran off to run for VP and when that didn't pan out she dumped the job. I don't see all these other Alaskans giving up so easily. She talks about things she can't be bothered to learn about in depth (Paul Revere's ride to protect our right to have guns?), health insurance etc...and doesn't even look over her shoulder to notice a guy killing turkeys right behind her... My problem is more with her than the politics. These miners may not be the best divers, or the smartest people even, but they are putting themselves out there in away that you have to respect.

Why would I respect some dude sucking gold out of the sea bed in order to put money in his pocket? I respect one of them as much as I respect a truck driver, a Subway owner or anybody else just making a living. Nobody on that show is curing cancer or feeding the poor. Sucking gold off the sea bed in 20 ft of water, whoop dee doo. As a business owner myself, I disrespect the lack of caring they have for the safety of their 'employees', workers or whatever you want to call them. If I cut corners like they do, thumbed my nose at the very base line of safety in my business like they do, I can't imagine the legal consequences, regardless of the ethical issues alone. Those guys are just guys trying to make some dough on the cheap. They make for good entertainment and a good case of eye rolling and thanking God I'm not in a position where I'd be in their shoes.
