Why move a valid trip report with pictures of problems, to Whine and Cheese?

Due to input from our users, the forum has been renamed to Thumbs Down.

Not to derail a W&C discussion, but where did that input come from? Was there a poll or something? Not that it really matters but I would be curious of the logic from the users.

The users let us know that they were unhappy with the name. The mods put their collective heads together and came up with this name. We don't share the individual mod's reasons for the name we chose.

It may be time to step back and take a good, balanced look at this. Right now, if the report is hugs and kisses it can go in one of a number of forums but if it is critical it goes in thumbs down!!! The report that precipitated this had pluses and minuses.

You don't need to go overboard and you can be sure that we won't. This forum is for problematic threads. Being negative doesn't make a thread problematic.

I think that "Thumbs Down" is a good place for this. The thread has made it's point, and that point has been made clear to the management of the subject vessel. Pete has done his job by giving a place for folks to continue to vent about it, and vent about the placement of the thread in particular. Maybe it's time for a little healing to take place and see if the thread made any difference in the management of that yacht.

It's not important who the moderator or admin was that moved the subject thread, not is it important to know who changed the name of Whine and Cheese to Thumbs Down. Like a change on Facebook, every change to a social media site is going to make somebody mad. Every mad person has the opportunity to vote with their feet.

Give it a rest.

To me, this explanation actually only seems to increase the perception of sinister intent on the part of the Dancer folks. The motive of the original posting was obvious in telling fellow divers about the poor experience they experienced. As described on the board, Dancer's response letter admitted to the problems. Yet they questioned the "motive" of this thread and it was pushed to the "complainers" section.
It's unfortunate because it was a well documented report, not just an easy to dismiss "never use these guys" post. I can understand that Scubaboard can't be referee for issues, but that can impact the info it can provide.

I agree. By and large, SB has been a pretty open forum for criticism. Keeping it within bounds (after all, these are people's businesses) is a thankless task, and I think you judged this one about right.

Of course one of the things I like about SB is that we all get an opportunity to say whether we think you got it right or not. Fortunately your skin is plenty thick!

As a frequent aggressor passenger who is going on the Carib Dancer next month
, I will be giving a report of my experiences (good or bad) on all the threads mentioning the Carib Dancer in the past 3 months. I hope for only good, but realize that no trip is only good. What I really hope is that I don't get to experience the Aggressor service recovery policies. The trip report in question brought those to light and that is why I think that the trip report thread should be reinstated, but the board belongs to the owners, and they are not obligated to be fair and balanced
