We are on the island now and trying to find a place where they do the Mayan/Spanish/Mexican coffee with all the theatrics. All the places we knew that did it are now no mas. Costa Brava told us they could do it, but they were being... um, optimistic. Not even close.

oh my, haven't thought of that in 10 years, brings back the memories

dinner and a show mexico style!

Rolandi's does it as well! We always watch, but have never ordered it ourselves.

Ray at El Moro does a flaming drink show as well as his flower liquor story.

Oh, yea. I almost forgot. He does do a nice job too. I just make him keep telling everyone the Xtbantun story.

My wife and I absolutely LOVED this on our last night of our first ever Caribbean trip (pre-SCUBA). Had it at our All-inclusive in Playa del Carmen (Dreams). Loved it so much I wrote the concierge later to get the recipe+script.

Gordon,

Is La Morena (sp?) still open? We all (the thundering herd) went there for coffee & dessert last time we were all together.

p.s. while we are on the subject. Does anyone know where to get a Cuban coffee on the island...The Casino?

As far as I can tell, La Morena appears to have been closed for quite some time (assuming you're talking about the one that was on 10a Av and not Punta Morena on the east side).
