Did I just get raped? I dropped off two sets of regs for annual service. They were working fine last time I used them two months ago. The cost for one set was 161 bucks which included an lp hose. The other set cost me 130 bucks. Is this the norm from a local dive shop? I actually have one more set of sherwood regs with gauges and octo that I am afraid to pick up. It needed a new pressure gauge. I don't remember paying this much in the past.

$30 per stage (1st, primary & Octo) is about $120 and then cost of parts on top of that. Sounds about right what you paid. You might want to invest in an IP gauge and use it each month.

The price is not out of line. Why did you have them serviced?

You got raped because you bought into the "I have to have my gear serviced every (insert unit of time here)". I had a friend who's Mares MR-22 provided her with 25 years of excellent service, and she went to use it for mini-season and it finally failed her. Now, I could have rebuilt it for her, although I'm not a Mares tech and getting parts if you aren't a tech can be a pain, or I could have just taken it apart and cleaned what was stuck, but I had a spare Atomic Ti2 to give her, and I'm a tech, and I keep parts, so she retired her MR-22 after 25 years. She never has had it serviced.

I'm not telling you to ignore the manufacturers recommendation, what I'm telling you is I only service my regs when they fail. I do make sure I check them before I go on a dive trip. So far, so good.

I've had them serviced twice in about five years. If they work I use them. I have taken them apart and cleaned them before but I just don't have the time. I do err on the side of caution now that my son is diving with me. I'm not a tech and I usually dive 10 to 20 times per year

And I read my post and sounded snarky, but did not mean it that way at all. You did not pay too much for the service. Your piece of mind is certainly worth what you paid. I service my regs every 5 or 6 years or so, but I service my wifes way more often than that, because, I don't care if I die, but I want her around for a long while.

Too much? A shop here used to charge $50 a stage plus parts ($50)......that's $300 a set. Did I mention they've gone under?
