I remember reading a piece in playboy about the " James Bond " movies... The person tells a story of getting a call from the navy/seals about the device used in the movie...

I think that device breaks down water into oxygen and hydrogen to produce a breathable gas at ambient pressure and as such it is limited only by its batteries that last for days.
As you can see in the picture of Sean Connery, he is not breathing due to his lungs being lower than the device and not able to overcome the pressure differential while Pierce Brosnan is having no trouble breathing while in horizontal trim.
Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan are wusses. Chuck Norris can split water into hydrogen and oxygen with his bare hands.
How about a hybrid: we breathe liquid and have biomechanical iGills that suck O2 out of the water and into that liquid. And vent CO2 really really well while they're at it.*someone* is either playing a long REALLY well, or doesn't get that this thing doesn't exist... And really guys, this is the 21st century, the era of bioengineering and gene therapy, think less "bond" and more "water world"
Heh, forgot about that one. They really went with pink as in "immersion pulmonary edema", didn't they?Ah yes, the Abyss pink fluid technology. The answer to complicated problems is usually "a little bit of each"
