That video does not show a proper frog kick (or modified frog kick)...
You are right there. Unfortunately, I did not capture the actual frog kick. I expect he did that when he was in the cavern. You also must recognize his experience with these fins was only the duration of that one dive. As you know it takes a while to dial in on the exact stroke that works best with any fin.

I have discovered another kick, which I will call a micro-kick, which works amazingly well. Essentially it is wiggling the toe end of your foot. It is possible to propel yourself slowly with these in very tight spaces just using foot flexes.

I have about 14 more videos to post so keep your eyes peeled.

Yeah, that's simply a horrible frog kick. It wouldn't pass my OW class.

During the week of open testing I was surprised at the number of folks who frog kicked with a flat sideways sweep. In the videos you can see they are not getting any thrust in those strokes since the vanes are not flexing at all. I have found these work great when frog kicked by pulling the feet forward (there is virtually no resistance) then pointing with my toes toward the rear. When I do that I feel a surge forward with nearly no effort on the part of my legs.

You really have to try them. We are taking suggestions for places for more open testing. In June we are doing a month long cross country trip. Maybe we can fit you in.

So, there's no hope to back up with these fins? I often swim back a bit to adjust my position in the water. As for diving, we do just a tad of it down here in the Keys. :D However, I travel all over to dive. Heading to Gainesville next week for the CDS forum.

Quite the contrary. George Roman of Dive Ventures SCUBA in Tampa FL ( ) said he had no problem backing up. Also Judy, a senior fish identifier for REEF tested the maneuverability of the MaxAir swim fin prototypes. ( ) She said they do everything you would expect a good maneuverable fin to do.

Do you have XXL? It's hard to justify that drive if you don't have my size.

Nothing against your fins...but there was no frog kick in that video either. Good to see an effective helicopter at least.

Here is an example of a frog kick, for reference. There should be rotation in the ankle to direct thrust behind you, and coordination between the two legs (not scissoring). The diver is a little foot light hence the bounce, but you get the idea.

Since these are prototypes I only have 4 large and one medium. The large will easily accommodate a size 12 foot with bootie.

Unfortunately, the TinyPic link you posted hangs my computer. I recommend you and everyone else avoid that link.
If you have a link to a video with less adware and who knows what attached I would like to see it.

I'm curious, if a non-silting kick (forward, backward, turn) can be done with a fin, does it need to be a frog kick?
