If you are in Central Europe, There is a bunch of indoor dive sites you can check. Like Dive for live or Nemo33. It will solve your temporary problem with the cold. Anyway, sometimes you can just organize a weekend/3 day trip to warmer waters. Otherwise, be patient... winter is gonna be over soon :-D

Read the tip of the week, it will keep you dreaming on warm waters :-D

Tip of the week: The Riviera Maya - A Top Diving Destination - Scuba Legends

I used to live east of where I am now, and had to endure months of 'hard water' (a.k.a. frozen lakes). So I moved to the west coast where the ocean doesn't freeze and try to go diving every week.

The internet may be fun, but it's no substitute for getting wet. I also now enjoy diving where there is lots to see on every dive, which I love.

Scuba Board, other online articles/resources, and planning/researching dive trips.

Richard.

This is exactly what I am doing all the time.
I had to stop looking at equipment though, because I ended up with 4 PDCs, 2 BCDs, 3 suits, 3 reg sets and so on.
Maybe I should have just bought a dry suit instead.

As a substitute, I became active on SB.
And created this silly thread.

@Scuba Legends:
Thanks for the info, I didn't know that places like this do exist.
Still pretty far away from me and if I go on a diving trip, I wouldn't choose a pool as destination.

Pozdrav :)
Depending on where in Croatia you are you can dive a 7mm and a 3 mm undersuit in the middle of the winter comfortably, if you go to any islands south of Krk the temperature at depth will be around 13-14 Celsius, and the outher islands like Dugi Otok, Vis, Lastovo will be warmer.

Bog Vicko!
Ja sam iz Austria. ;-)
I did in fact think about driving down to Murter for a couple of days.
I have been diving in water of temperatures around 15°C, but it is not really comfortable in a wetsuit...

Hey OP, I totally feel ya. I fell in love with Scuba Diving out of all places, in Arizona. We have pretty much one lake here that we dive in. There is definitely some interesting stuff to see in it and a good few dive sites around it (enormous lake) but it does get kind of redundant and boring after awhile. The problem is, in the summer the viz goes to crap, but the water is nice and warm (75F / 24C +). In the winter, the viz is pretty good but the water is pretty cold (54F / 12C on our last dive). I am pretty tolerant of the cold but my girlfriend who fell equally in love with diving as I did is small and gets cold very easily.

We are within a 7 hour or so drive to coastal California but it's just far enough that making a "Weekend" trip out of it means you really need 3 days and I work M-F at a job that doesn't like giving off days. So my plan at the moment- what I'm looking into, is moving to Florida. I mean, why not? If you love and have a passion for something why not live close to where you can do it often? I don't make a ton of money so traveling a whole lot, at least for the time being is out of the question, but I love diving so much! I'm thinking of moving to the Miami area (the folks here were super nice and helped me with some suggestions of diving shops to check in the area). I can work there, dive there and I love the beach life anyways.

That's my plan at least. I know different people have different circumstances, maybe friends, family, good jobs tying them down to a particular area but if you don't, I'd say look into areas that you can enjoy your passions/hobbies/etc.

Wintertime here on coast of Maine...
1. We use the local high school pool on a weekly basis.
2. Got a semi-dry suit ready to go, so wait for good weather days and/or dive buddy(s) availability.
3. Research/Plot potential dive/wreck sites around Penobscot Bay.
4. Put together LP72 doubles set with BP/W.
5. Keep checking thread topics on SB.
