Yes, the DGX one works exactly the same way. The pics on the DGX site really suck for showing you how it works.

Thanks Stuart. That's what I was looking for: a cam buckle that I can open up easily and not have to slide the BP/W up and down on the tank. Ordering a pair of the DGX ones and returning my Highlands.

SP & SP'style bands are my favorite. There was a knock off that had issues with a really cheap huge, but I don't remember which ones they were. There was a time where we were buying old broken SP jackets for real cheap just to get the bands from them.....

I used to use one standard cam band @ the top of the tank and a SP one lower down, for ease of switching tanks on a rocking boat. Even on a really rough day, I could just throw the top standard band onto the tank, adjust it, and then connect the bottom band. Much easier than lifting the whole rig up and over the new tank in order to get the bottom band on. Also much easier than trying to hook up the SP one @ the top of the tank on a violently rocking boat.
.

I agree the SP model is easier to close and open, but there should be no so much problem even with this one.
When using a single hand, you should keep the buckle near the tank in order to gain for lenght. Doing so, even the Jacket should be kept close to the tank. Doing so, with the buckle opened you should rotate it in orde to dislodge it.

I have the highlands and ended up using a grinder to cut over half of the hook off so I could disconnect them. They work great now, but I think the overall design could use a little work, I shouldn't have to cut them to make it disconnect. My daughter has the DGX scuba pro style, I like them much better except the webbing stretches a ton when wet, but they're too tight to close when dry or just dipped into the water. We have to make small adjustments each time we use them, I've even tried letting them dry on the tank and that hasn't worked either. She only has 12 dives on them maybe they'll eventually stretch out some.

The webbing should be stitched, so could not be an easy job to replace it, unless you spend a bit of time - especially with a stiff one - hard to puncture.

The best quick release tank strap on the market today is either Aqualung or Apeks
Grip-Lock Tank Band Assembly For Non-Wrapture System BCD (they are clones).

See Youtube video:
Only choice is what brand name you want to wear on your gear.

Note: Tank band is sold as one band only for $45, but thanks to divad's previous post, you only have to buy one. Make certain, to like his pearl of a post.

Lastly, Rubber traction pad listed in description is Not tank grip pad like Halcyon Octogrip, but is affixed to both sides of static buckle to protect tank and to cushion/hold (I think).

Brother has Aqualung Axiom with built in, that is why to get For Non-Wrapture System option.

Make claim that is pinch free, and is, if you read instructions and pay attention to what you are doing.

'Nuff said.

I used to..?

Much gratitude, for your tip of only using one quick release strap on bottom.

What do you mean by, "I used to..."?
