What do you use to stop your mask from fogging?

I have seen many occasions where commercial de-fog was only marginally effective..

I have just used a small bit of spit and a small splash of water to spread it around.. Never had a problem with fog..

And honestly, I have never used toothpaste or flame either.. So I don't really get that. I have used Cressi masks, almost exclusively.. so I'm not sure if that matters..

Diluted Johnson & Johnson No More Tears baby shampoo.

I keep a sports squeeze bottle of it in my dive bag. It works better than spit as anti-fog (for me, anyway), and it is also great as lube on my arms and legs for sliding a wetsuit on. And if I don't get my mask rinsed out well enough, it does not burn my eyes like some commercial anti-fog solutions that I have tried before.

Thoroughly scrub a new masks lens with toothpaste, nothing defogs well if the lens isn't initially prepped enough.

I've been using spit for about 8 years with no fogging issues and I frequently make 2-3 hour dives, often in near freezing water. Biggest advantage of spit is you always have it when you need it.

After using a defog in the mask, rub it around a bit and give it a short rinse. Do not wash it too much after using the defog. I like the baby shampoo solution in a very small spray bottle that doesn't take up much room in the side pocket of my dive bag. 1/3 to 1/2 shampoo and the rest plain water.

I was fogging up yesterday so instructor signaled for my mask, he found some sea plant and rubbed it on the inside of my mask, being carful not to damaged the plant. I wish I would have gotten a picture of it because my mask stayed like crystal for the rest of dive. In PDC

Isn't it just the slimy go that builds up on great lakes sea weed? Not any kind of special plant?
