wife and I are dropping down to Provo for two days of diving in late May. Recommendations for guides, especially shark dives, who are safe and enviromentally conscious?

Im also hoping to get advice on my current set up. I currently run a cannon g16 in an ikelite housing with a single ds51 strobe and L/M sola 500 focus. I generally shoot macro and most of my experience is openwater pacific at 20-30 feet. We intend to get in the water with sharks so I need to up my game with wide angle shooting. I'm considering buying an additional strobe, probably another DS51 and a dome port. Do water condition in Provo demand a second strobe and/or dome? If you had to pick one, which and why?

Thank you in advance for any advice!

This is like deja vu all over again. Thought I just saw this post elsewhere. I am just a simple photographer so can't really give any useful advice other than don't sweat it. I took this video with a cheap sealife mini with no lights.

Awesome! What were the conditions like if you recall? Water was blue?

I liked Dive Provo. Great guides. Clear blue water. Most of my time was spent in the 60foot range.

Get a lanyard. The diving is predominantly wall. Drop your rig at many of these sites and it'll probably still be falling when you're flying home

I dove with Dive Provo and Aqua TCI for a couple of dives on two different visits. Dive Provo is adequate, but it's a bit more of a cattle boat. My experience was not as good as with Aqua TCI. Aqua TCI will also let you dive your air and not insist on a mass exit from the water.

the op posted in March for a trip this past may.

Good catch. I missed that and just saw it was at the top of the list. My bad.

For what it may be worth after the fact; we dove Provo with Caicos Adventures, which is probably one of the most organized and well-run operations I have ever dove with anywhere.

Diving on Provo is generally more expensive than other locations around the Caribbean just simply due to the distances and logistics; plus can be a substantial time commitment depending on where you are staying and where you go diving. These guys are probably going to be on the top-end of the price scale.

Personally, I much prefer Grand Turk; excellent diving, but requires an additional internal flight.
