I've had a OxyCheq wing and two weight pockets. Should I put the weight pockets on the tank straps or waist straps?
I use 2 x 4lbs weight.
Some people said they should be put on the tank straps because they can balance the force while I am on water surface to prevent head down. But if I put them at the back, it is not possible to discard them when there is an emergency.
So, should I put the weights on the waist instead? I'm so confused.

This is probably going to start a fire.... but. If you are properly weighted in a recreational set up. Holding a full breath of air at the surface your head should be above the water. (This is where the fire squad will come in). Therefore having ditchable weight is an industry safety net and marketing ploy. Evenly distributed weight makes for good trim. Ditchable weight pockets on a jacket style bcd make it harder for people to trim out. Place your weights where they work best for your trim and dive. If it’s on the tanks bands place it there. If you were to have an inwater emergency. You are to, “in a controlled manner kick yourself to the surface”. Inflate the bcd while
On the surface. You will have your head above water and able to breathe normally. If you need to ditch your weight after that (example boat left you out to sea) then have your buddy remove the weight or you have been taught to remove and replace your bcd on the surface in OW class. Remove your weight yourself.

Wherever you decide to put them, I suggest making sure they stay put and don't shift around while donning/doffing your BC and while diving. If you are using pockets you might find that some bungee cord or cable ties in the right places can help prevent some of that.

Where you need to put your weights depends on your trim needs as well as ditching considerations. I have pockets on the cam bands and on the waist webbing. There is no reason why the weight cannot be split into 4 pockets.

Agree with posters above. I also put some on tank band and some on waist band depending on equipment worn.

I use 2x4# also. I tried putting the weights on the cam bands and found that I was too tippy side to side. I relocated to the shoulder straps but found my feet were floating too high. Next they went to the waste straps and as in the three bears: just right.
Experiment.
Here's a good idea for easily moving weights around temporarily.
Weight belt or weight pockets?

Question to OP: Is this the same weight amount you used with your previous BCD?
This was my first BCD. I've been using 8lbs since I learned diving. Actually I've tried to put weight on cam strap and waist strap but I couldn't notice the difference.

As stated put them where you need or if you have a BPW you may want to try a V style weight of the appropriate amount they make them for single tank adapters actually more of a bar weight not a V that would go between double cylinders but same principal
